“Harmony” Mixed Media Portrait Art

When I first started painting, I would not have considered myself as working on mixed media portrait art, I just started to paint in all different mediums. I always loved portraits but I never knew it was my calling. It wasn’t until I started to incorporate my portrait photography into my paintings that it finally started to click for me.

Inspiration for this Piece:

I always love experimenting with new ideas that I can add into my art. “Harmony” was one of the first pieces where I started to play around with the color changing. When I screened this image, it felt kind of “gangster”, so I decided to add in the darker colors to really reinforce that “thug” feel.

Other Details:

As a photographer and portrait artist, I take the photographs and then turn them into mixed media portrait art. Interested in learning more about this process or seeing a bit of it? Check out this behind-the-scenes video of my work!

“Harmony” is an acrylic mixed media portrait painting based on a portrait photograph. This piece uses a color changing technique and is 25.25 by 25.25 framed.

The Portrait Painting Artist:

Although I call myself a portrait painting artist, it is hard to categorize my work as one thing specifically as it falls under: Pop art, Modern art, Mixed Media, and street art. What I do to create art is a multifaceted process that is done all by hand. It’s a labor of love where each piece will have hours of work poured into it until I feel like it’s finally finished.

What is Mixed Media Portrait Art/Portrait Painting?

Mixed media art refers to a visual art form that combines a variety of media in a single artwork. In my art, this usually means combining my photography with painting. I use a variety of unique materials: gold and silver leaf, a color changing technique, etc.
