When I first started painting, I would not have considered myself a mixed media portrait artist. I just started to paint in all different mediums. I always loved portraits but I never knew it was my calling. It wasn’t until I started to incorporate my portrait photography into my paintings that it finally started to click for me.
Inspiration for this Mixed Media Portrait Art:
This piece, like others, is a combination of my photography and painting that results in a mixed media art piece. This piece has sold, but if you’d like to check out others like it, here is a gold leaf painting, here is another example of my mixed media art, and here is another.
As a photographer and portrait artist, I take the photographs and then turn them into mixed media that is a combination of my photography and painting. Interested in learning more about this process or seeing a bit of it? Check out this behind-the-scenes video of my work!
“Eva” is an acrylic mixed media piece based on a portrait photograph. This piece uses gold leaf and is 25.25 by 25.25 framed.
The Portrait Painting Artist:
Although I call myself a portrait painting artist, it is hard to categorize my work as one thing specifically as it falls under: Pop art, Modern art, Mixed Media, and street art. What I do to create art is a multifaceted process that is done all by hand. It’s a labor of love where each piece will have hours of work poured into it until I feel like it’s finally finished.
What is a Mixed Media Photography/Painting Combination?
Mixed media art refers to a visual art form that combines a variety of media in a single artwork. In my art, this usually means combining my photography with painting. I use a variety of unique materials: gold and silver leaf, a color changing technique, etc.
